Honoring a Laurence Harbor Veteran
Happy Veterans Day! Today, we say thank you to all who served in the US military, including one of our own, Bill Reid!

Bill Reid served in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 2018. Shortly before one of his final deployments, he decided that he wanted to continue protecting others, this time by serving locally.
“I was still able-bodied, and I’ve always felt that everybody should serve their community any way they can,” he said.
That’s when he decided to join Laurence Harbor Fire Department, and has been a volunteer firefighter with the department ever since.
“I enjoy going through the door and making a difference,” he said.
Bill says that the people he’s met and the friends he’s made over the past five years are one of the main reasons he has stuck with volunteer firefighting, and that being part of an extended family brings him back to his Army days.
“The camaraderie is awesome,” he said. Once I retired from the Army, I was kind of missing that.”
And for those who may have interest in volunteering with Laurence Harbor Fire Department, Bill says to just give it a shot.
“Do it!” he said.
Laurence Harbor Fire Department is seeking motivated individuals to join as volunteer firefighters. Volunteers can expect to participate in training sessions and contribute to administrative duties across the department. Visit lhfd1.com to learn more and complete an inquiry form.
