How do I get started as a volunteer firefighter at Laurence Harbor?
First, fill out our inquiry form, and a member of our team will be in touch with you to schedule a tour of the firehouse and start the application process.


Is this a paid firefighting position?
This is not a paid firefighting position; however, we will provide you invaluable experience and skills that will benefit you in every aspect of your life. Volunteer firefighting is a great resume builder, and a way to serve your community.


How often do I have to volunteer?

While there are no set hours a firefighter must volunteer, we require you to respond to 25% of the nearly 200 emergency calls we receive every year. We pride ourselves on the reliability of and the dedication our volunteers have.


Can I become a firefighter with no experience?
Yes! We offer training for our members at the Middlesex County Fire Academy at no cost to you. No prior firefighting experience is necessary to begin your volunteer experience. Let us show you the Laurence Harbor way!


Will you provide the gear?
Yes! Laurence Harbor Fire Company has state-of-the-art equipment and gear to keep our firefighters safe on the scene of an emergency, free of charge.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Laurence Harbor Fire Department is proud of its history, and serves the residents with the following objectives in mind:
  • To provide the best possible protection to the residents of Laurence Harbor and the surrounding communities under the Mutual Aid Plan and as set forth in the Standard Operating Procedures of this department.
  • To provide fire protection, fire inspection and fire safety education services to our community.
  • To foster interest in all matters pertaining to the volunteer service and to promote the welfare and social advances of all volunteer firefighters. 
  • To inculcate love of country, good citizenship, civic virtue and self sacrifice, and to perpetuate the spirit, which from the early days has actuated volunteer fireman in the rendition of service of the highest type in the protection of life and property from fire without hope of fee or reward.
  • To promote the improvement and advancement of the Laurence Harbor community and its residents.
