PREPAREDNESS FAST FACTS

The American Red Cross has created a 1-2-3 step plan in case of an emergency. Below is a brief explanation as to what each webpage talks about. Follow the link to the American Red Cross for more information.

Step 1: Get a Kit.
At a minimum, have the basic supplies found here. Keep supplies in an easy to carry emergency preparedness kit that you can use at home or take with you in case you must evacuate.

Step 2: Make a Plan.
Plan with your household what to do in case you a separated during an emergency. Also, discuss what you have to do if you have to evacuate. Those guidelines can be found here.

Step 3: Be Informed.
Learn what disasters or emergencies may occur in your area. These events can range from those affecting only you and your family, like a home fire or medical emergency, to those affecting your entire community, like an earthquake or flood.

Also, it is a good idea to have these Emergency Contact cards filled out and saved in a place where if an emergency should occur, each member of the household can take one to have on them when needed.
